Welcome to the Power of Ten!
The Power of Ten is a NMVMA initiative designed to help recent graduates develop foundational skills in leadership, communication and business.
How It Works
Ten participants will be selected from the applicant pool to participate in the Power of Ten leadership program. Participants will join a network of peers in a series of learning experiences. It’s a way to help recent graduates answer questions like:
“I finished veterinary school and I’m in practice - but how can I get a better grasp on what makes me tick?”
“Now that I have a technical staff, how can I form, manage and elad an effective team?”
Who am I in the bigger picture, and what can I give to my family, my community, and my profession that will be my legacy?”
We anticipate that the Power of Ten will also create a sense of community and participants will likely build lasting bonds with other members of the leadership program. The program will provide ten recent graduates (graduated from a college of veterinary medicine in the years 2001-2016) with four leadership development sessions over the course of a year. The NMVMA will provide topic experts and meeting expenses, including food and beverages, at no charge to participants. Sessions will include:
Social Styles/Communication/Conflict Management
Wellness/Compassion Fatigue/Time management
Financial Matters/Legislative Issues

“Power of 10 has been amazing for me! It's given me access to resources on so many things beyond leadership within my company and profession. I have confidence is areas I didn't have before and feel a growing sense of comradery among colleagues. The NMVMA truly cares about every individual in this program and strives to be supportive of every veterinarian. They listen not only to our voices but with arms wide open. They have connected me to a new network and a new foundation. I feel thankful to have been selected to participate and know that I will treasure the experience for years to come! Thank you for all that you do!”
